Kukkutasana Yoga Benefits: Reduce Belly Fat and Boost Concentration | Udaipur Kiran

New Delhi, December 6 – There are several yoga poses that not only provide strength to the body but also awaken internal energy. ‘Kukkutasana’ is one such yoga pose that maintains body balance while strengthening shoulder and abdominal muscles.

‘Kukkutasana’ is a Sanskrit word where ‘Kukkut’ means ‘rooster’ and ‘asana’ means ‘posture’. While performing this pose, the body resembles a rooster, which is why this pose is called ‘Kukkutasana’.

Initially, practicing ‘Kukkutasana’ may present some difficulties, but regular practice provides numerous benefits to the body. It makes the body flexible while taking special care of the heart.

The Ministry of AYUSH has described Kukkutasana as a powerful yoga pose that balances body and mind. While performing this pose, the entire body rests on your palms and arms.

Regular practice of this pose helps in reducing belly fat and strengthens the digestive system. The spine becomes flexible and blood circulation in the body improves. Mentally, it also helps in improving concentration and meditation. Regular practice reduces stress and anxiety. Additionally, it strengthens the wrist and elbow joints.

To perform this pose, first sit in Padmasana position on a yoga mat. Then slowly pass your right hand between the right thigh and calf, and repeat the same process with your left hand. Place both palms firmly on the ground, ensuring there is approximately 3 to 4 inches distance between the palms. Now take a deep breath and apply pressure on the palms to lift the entire body off the ground. During this, your neck should be straight and eyes focused forward. Stay in this position for 15 to 20 seconds and then slowly lower the body and return to Padmasana position.

Pregnant women and people suffering from high blood pressure or heart disease should avoid practicing this pose. Beginners should start practicing under the supervision of a yoga instructor.
