Noida, February 20: The ambitious PM Surya Ghar scheme launched by the India Government and the Uttar Pradesh Government is rapidly promoting solar energy across the state. The initiative aims to install solar panels on the rooftops of one crore homes nationwide, providing consumers with up to 300 units of free electricity each month.

According to Lavesh Kumar Sisodia, the Backward Classes Welfare Officer and Project Officer of UP New and Renewable Energy Development Agency (UPNEDA) in Gautam Buddh Nagar, the scheme is being implemented by UPNEDA, located in Vibhuti Khand, Gomti Nagar, Lucknow.

This initiative is expected to not only reduce electricity bills but also allow consumers to generate additional income by selling excess electricity back to the grid. Eligible consumers will receive subsidies of up to ₹78,000 directly into their bank accounts for the installation of solar systems. The subsidy amounts are ₹30,000 for a 1 kW system, ₹60,000 for a 2 kW system, and ₹78,000 for a 3 kW system. This subsidy is transferred directly to the beneficiaries’ accounts after completing the necessary procedures, ensuring transparency.

The application process is entirely online and user-friendly. Interested individuals can register and apply on the official scheme website. After applying, they must obtain approval from the relevant distribution company (DISCOM).

Once approved, it is mandatory to upload the details of the installed solar panels, net meter information, and bank account details on the portal. Upon completing all formalities, the subsidy amount is sent directly to the bank account. Additionally, a loan facility with approximately 7% interest, without any guarantee, is available for solar systems up to 3 kW, providing financial assistance to the general public.

To benefit from the scheme, applicants must be Indian citizens, have a suitable rooftop for solar panel installation, possess a valid electricity connection, and not have availed of any other solar subsidy scheme previously. Required documents for application include an Aadhaar card, the latest electricity bill, bank passbook, mobile number, and email ID. For detailed information, interested individuals can contact the Project Officer at UPNEDA, Room No. 111, Development Building, Surajpur, Greater Noida, Gautam Buddh Nagar, during working days. This scheme is considered a significant step towards clean energy in the state.
