New Delhi, May 21: Samajwadi Party MP Rajiv Rai has launched a verbal attack on Prime Minister Narendra Modi regarding his return from a foreign trip and the subsequent cabinet meeting. He stated that while the Prime Minister will participate in the meeting upon his return, a detailed response will be provided only after the meeting concludes.
In an exclusive conversation with a news agency, Rai emphasized that the foreign trip involves several national and international issues. However, he believes that various topics are raised to divert attention from these core issues. “Sometimes there will be discussions about ‘Melody Chocolate’, other times about photo shoots, and at times about the Prime Minister holding a meeting as soon as he arrives. Attention is being diverted from the real issues. We will respond to this after the meeting,” he said.
When asked about Rahul Gandhi’s controversial remarks regarding the Prime Minister and Home Minister, Rai stated that he would not use the same words as Gandhi did for the Prime Minister. However, he expressed that the nation feels deceived seeing the Prime Minister avoiding journalists while projecting the image of a global leader.
Rai further remarked, “The Prime Minister’s disrespect is the country’s disrespect. The question is, why is the Prime Minister so afraid? He cannot speak without a teleprompter and script.”
On the issue of the West Bengal government’s mandate of ‘Vande Mataram’ in madrasas, Rai provided a balanced response, stating that the matter is under the Supreme Court’s consideration and that everyone must accept whatever decision the apex court makes.
