Udaipur, March 29 (Udaipur Kiran): Pratapnagar police in Udaipur on Saturday arrested Dr. Dilip Singh Chauhan, a suspended Assistant Professor from the Yoga Department of Janardan Rai Nagar Rajasthan Vidyapeeth University, in connection with an alleged embezzlement case.

According to police, Chauhan is accused of misappropriating lakhs of rupees through fake bills during his tenure at the university. A case was also registered against him for tarnishing the institution’s image. He is currently being interrogated in the matter.

The case came to light after the university’s Registrar, Tarun Shrimali, lodged a complaint at Pratapnagar police station. In his complaint, he alleged that between 2021 and 2024, and also during the period from 2020 to 2023, Chauhan committed financial irregularities in the name of students.

It has been alleged that Chauhan withdrew funds from the university under the pretext of purchasing tracksuits and blazers for Yoga Department students. However, no such items were actually provided to the students. The purchases were reportedly shown only on paper, while full payments were claimed.

Further, irregularities have also been reported in the honorarium payments meant for conducting classes between 2017 and 2021. Chauhan allegedly prepared bills himself and submitted them to the accounts department for payment.

Initially, the university’s accounts department cleared these bills considering them valid. However, discrepancies surfaced after an internal inquiry committee was constituted by the university. The investigation revealed the alleged fraud, following which Chauhan was suspended around three months ago.
