Udaipur (Udaipur Kiran): Hindustan Zinc, the world’s largest integrated zinc producer, has unveiled the official medal for the second edition of the Vedanta Hindustan Zinc City Half Marathon, scheduled to be held on 21 September from Udaipur’s Field Club.

This year’s marathon is expected to attract over 7,000 runners from 27 states, surpassing last year’s participation record. The official unveiling took place at a press conference in Udaipur, attended by Hindustan Zinc CEO Arun Misra, ABCR’s Dr. Manoj Soni, and other dignitaries.

Medal Symbolises Strength and Heritage

Crafted from pure zinc produced by Hindustan Zinc, the medal represents resilience and determination. Organisers described it as a symbol of heritage, highlighting both the strength of runners and the enduring legacy of zinc. The marathon’s theme, “Run for Zero Hunger,” reflects a commitment to social responsibility and the fight against malnutrition in India.

Prize Pool and Categories

With a prize pool exceeding ₹3 lakh, the marathon will feature multiple categories — 5 km, 10 km, 21 km, and Race with Champions. Participants will run along scenic routes covering Fatehsagar Lake, Maharana Pratap Smarak, Saheliyon ki Bari, and the iconic Neemach Mata hill, showcasing Udaipur’s heritage and natural beauty.

All finishers will receive distinctive zinc-based medals as a memento of the race. The event will see participation from professional athletes, senior citizens, children, and differently-abled individuals, turning it into a celebration of community spirit.

CEO’s Remarks

Speaking at the launch, Hindustan Zinc CEO and marathon enthusiast Arun Misra said:
“The Vedanta Zinc City Half Marathon is not just a sporting event, it is a celebration of fitness, inclusion, and community. Through this platform, we promote health, while also boosting Udaipur’s tourism and local economy. More importantly, it supports the mission to eradicate malnutrition in rural India.”
