Orphan zebra cuddles with ‘mom’ zookeeper

A video from the Sheldrick Wildlife Trust, a non-profit organisation in Kenya, is winning hearts online, showing an orphaned zebra foal named Bombi affectionately cuddling her keeper, Peter.“Bombi would crawl into Keeper Peter’s coat if she could — in fact, she’s giving it her best shot! She absolutely adores him,” said the trust while sharing the video. Bombi was rescued earlier this year after lions killed her mother and arrived at the sanctuary with serious injuries. According to the trust, she has healed well under round-the-clock care. In the clip, Peter wears a black-and-white striped coat to mimic a zebra’s pattern. “Zebras are visual creatures and foals imprint on their mother’s striped pattern,” the trust explained, noting the coat allows Bombi to bond naturally while preventing over-attachment to a single human. The heart-warming video has gone viral, with many appreciating the nature of the job. “I honestly think this has got to be the best job. I’m sure it’s long hours, dirty, and smelly but my goodness, to be this loved by a zebra? Or an elephant? How wonderful!” replied one Insta user while another echoed with “What an amazing you job you have there!” Many others commented on Bombi calling her cute, adorable and other similar adjectives while some appreciated the bond between the animal and the keeper. “Aww, she’s such a sweet girlThe video has gone viral since being posted with over 46.4K likes with over 500 comments, more than 170 reposts and over 2.4k shares.
