Actor Arjan Bajwa, known for his performances in films like Fashion, Crook, Son of Sardar, Bobby Jasoos, Rustom, and Kabir Singh, as well as web series like Bestsellers and State of Siege: 26/11, is now looking forward to taking on a role that holds personal significance—playing a Sikh character on screen.
Arjan Bajwa eager to play a Sikh character on screen: “I am looking forward to wearing the Pagdi”
While Arjan has been widely appreciated for his diverse roles, he is yet to portray a Sardar character wearing the Pagdi. Speaking about this aspiration, Arjan said, “I owe my look in the Pagdi to my father, who taught me how to tie one. He was himself a very, very handsome and well-built man. I would love to play a Sardar character with the Pagdi in a project, but that hasn’t come my way yet. I am eagerly awaiting an opportunity where I can play a Sikh Indian Air Force pilot or a defense personnel.”
His admiration for Sikh culture and traditions runs deep, making this a role he is keen to explore. The actor’s connection to his roots extends to Punjabi cinema as well, though he has not yet ventured into the regional film industry. “I haven’t done a Punjabi film yet, even though a lot of offers come my way. But I want to wait for the right script to make my debut in Punjabi. It is my mother tongue. I am ancestrally from Punjab, so it is definitely very close to my heart,” Arjan shared.
When it comes to the kind of Punjabi films that excite him, Arjan said, “Something of an action romantic script in Punjabi is what I’d love to do because that’s the kind of response I get from all the Punjabi filmmakers who have been speaking to me.” The actor also revealed his dream role, “On another note, a patriotic film playing a Sikh would be a dream come true!”
As Arjan Bajwa continues to explore versatile characters, fans are eager to see him bring his Sikh identity and his personal connection with the Pagdi to life on screen.
