Saif Ali Khan Talks About Rottweiler Adventures And More: Jaideep Ahlawat And Siddharth Anand Join In As They Share More Fun Secrets From The Set Of Jewel Thief : Bollywood News

The team behind Jewel Thief: The Heist Begins, which dropped on Netflix on April 25, recently shared some candid, funny, and heartwarming moments from their time on set in a conversation with IMDb.

Talking about his character, Saif Ali Khan summed it up simply, “It’s kind of a hero under pressure and a kind of a very difficult job to kind of save somebody and all that kind of drama and exotic locations and thrilling ride of deceit and adventure.”

Producer and director Siddharth Anand called Jewel Thief a complete heist package. “It’s a heist film and it’s got all the ingredients what you expect from a heist film. It’s got its twists and turns, it’s got glamorous people, it’s got fun elements, it’s got humour, bit of action, exciting characters, it marks all the boxes that you expect from a global heist film.”

For Saif, the emotional weight of the role was a big draw. “For me, it was the role and the story. Like I said, a talented kind of a person who has these dark skills or however you put it and kind of goes against the system in a way, a rebellious kind of guy who’s made his way in the world.”

Siddharth Anand further added, “Sympathetic character who has his heart in the right place and does things for the right reasons. He has a line in the film where he says, sometimes good people have to do bad things to save their family and that was an important line for me. What drew me to it is the fact that it’s a genre that I love watching and it was always exciting to create something like this and I love to do things that push me, give me sort of sleepless nights and I’ve not slept in the last two years thanks to Jewel Thief.”

Jaideep Ahlawat, who plays a key role in the film, put it humorously – “For me it was simple, Marflix, Netflix, Saif Sir, Siddharth, Mamta Ma’am and Blonde Jaideep Ahlawat. That’s so nice.”

Reflecting on their first day of shooting, Saif recalled, “I remember my first day, it was very late at night. We started at I think 1am or something and we finished at about 5 just as the light came up.” Jaideep added, “Yeah, we met on our first day actually.” Saif admitted to feeling a bit off on day one, “And as usual, I hated myself because it was the first day and sometimes to be honest with you, you don’t know what I’m doing. So, it takes a while to get used to it. So, I was a little nervous, a little tired and a little lost.”

Siddharth Anand pointed out how art and life aligned beautifully. “Coincidentally, it was the scene where they first meet. So, I think it just was not by design or by accident. We were filming the scene where they first meet in the film and so yeah, it came about quite naturally,” he shared.

But the most memorable behind-the-scenes moment might just involve a massive Rottweiler. Saif shared, “I was shooting with Jaideep sir’s dog in the movie and it’s a massive Rottweiler. I didn’t know they were that big. The owner said, you can do whatever you want with it. So, I was feeding him biscuits and playing with it. And at one point, I pulled it slightly and it growled at me in the most ferocious way and then he went, ‘oh don’t pull it’. He said, you can do what you want..”

Jaideep affectionately added, “But don’t pull it, other than that, he has the spirit of a lab.”
He continued, “Rottweiler has the spirit of a lab. By chance, during the shoot, I was just cuddling and my finger got stuck in his collar. And I was like, okay, I’m sorry.” Siddharth Anand joked, “Warned you. He’s a bear. I’m a Rottweiler bro.”

Clearly, the filming of Jewel Thief: The Heist Begins was packed with as much camaraderie, chaos, and charm as the movie itself.
