Govinda Was Paid Half Of Salman Khan’s Fees For Partner: “One Actor Is Charging Rs.10 Crores, The Other Rs 5 Crores” 10 : Bollywood News

Partner, starring Salman Khan and Govinda, was a major hit and widely appreciated by audiences. Despite Govinda’s long-standing stardom, he was paid significantly less than Salman Khan for the movie. Salman received a fee of Rs 10 crores, whereas Govinda was paid Rs. 5 crores. In a recent interview, the film’s writer Alok Upadhyaya shared how the details of their fees came to light during the filming of the song ‘Soni De Nakhre’.

Alok shared with Lightscameramasti, “David Dhawan meets all expectations in terms of a filmmaker of commercial cinema. While shooting, all things like editing and other aspects would go on in his mind simultaneously. He knows everything about cinema. His aim was always to make the film better commercially.”

He remembered, “During the shooting of the song ‘Soni De Nakhre’, the choreographer had set 2-3 long shots. David sahab came to me and said, ‘One actor is charging Rs.10 crores, the other Rs 5 crores — that’s Rs 15 crore standing there, and only their legs are being shown. Shoot a close-up of both Govinda and Salman.’”

Alok added, “David sahab got impatient and called the choreographer over, saying, ‘You’re shooting Rs.50 worth of flower pot, Rs.10 of decoration. My film won’t mint money with these things. Jo Rs.15 crores ke do khade hain, unke close mar.’”

In addition to Salman Khan and Govinda, Partner, directed by David Dhawan, also featured Katrina Kaif and Lara Dutta, though their pay for the film remains undisclosed. Released in 2010, Partner was an unofficial remake of the Hollywood movie Hitch, starring Will Smith. The story followed a love guru who helps a client win over the woman he loves, while also trying to win the heart of someone special himself.
