Washington, July 15: U.S. President Donald Trump has issued a stern warning to Iran, stating that if the country does not return to the negotiating table by next week, the United States will target its power plants and bridges. Trump indicated that American attacks would intensify in the coming days.
In an interview with Fox News, Trump declared, “We will strike very hard tonight. Then we will strike again tomorrow night. Attacks will continue the following day, and conditions for Iran will worsen next week.”
He explained that the U.S. is currently in the final phase of targeting Iran’s energy infrastructure. Trump stated, “We will ultimately target energy-related sites, but they will be attacked in the end. Next week, it will be the power plants, followed by bridges.”
Trump reiterated that if Iran remains unwilling to negotiate, all of its power plants and bridges will be destroyed. He asserted, “If they do not come to the negotiating table, we will obliterate all their power plants and all their bridges.”
When asked if he believes Iran is serious about reaching an agreement, he replied, “I think they have no other choice left.”
Trump also mentioned that U.S. attacks would continue until he feels the campaign’s objectives have been achieved. He noted, “The attacks will keep going until I say enough is enough. They still have a little fighting strength left, but not much.”
During the interview, Trump was questioned about the possibility of seizing Iran’s major oil export hub, Kharg Island, but did not provide a clear answer. He also did not explicitly state that the U.S. would not conduct ground operations.
He remarked, “If I felt it was right to do so, I would clearly say ‘no.’ Sometimes ground operations are necessary, but others can handle that work for us.”
Trump claimed that the U.S. has already attacked Kharg Island but intentionally avoided damaging the oil facilities to prevent an impact on the global economy. He stated, “If necessary, attacks on oil-related infrastructure could happen in the future, but I see that as unlikely.”
He also claimed that the Strait of Hormuz is open for international ships but closed for Iranian vessels. “If people want to pass through there, it is open. We are not opening it for Iran. It is only closed to Iran. Iran’s access is completely blocked, but it is open for others.”
Fox News reported that only ten ships passed through the waterway on Monday, which is less than 10 percent of the usual traffic.
Trump added that about an hour before the interview, his representatives had spoken with Iranian officials. When asked what message was conveyed to Iran, he said, “They were clearly told to make a deal, or they will have nothing left and no one will be left.”
