Jaipur, November 12 (Udaipur Kiran): Under the special campaign ‘Dharkarbhar’ launched on the directions of Superintendent of Police Narendra Singh Meena, Barmer Police achieved a major breakthrough by arresting ₹10,000 reward-carrying accused Derajram alias Deraram Jat, a resident of Rawatsar, who had been absconding for nearly a year.
According to SP Meena, the accused was wanted in a 2024 attempted murder case registered at Rico Police Station. The incident took place on November 24, 2024, near Sindhari Chauraha, where assailants in a Scorpio allegedly rammed a Thar vehicle and opened fire on Karmendra Jat, leaving him injured.
Investigations revealed that Derajram had supplied an illegal pistol to the main accused Karnaram Jat, used in the attack. Due to his prolonged absconding, Derajram was listed among the top-10 wanted criminals in the district, prompting the police to announce a ₹10,000 cash reward for his arrest.
A joint team from Gadra Road Police Station and the District Special Team (DST) tracked the accused using technical surveillance and intelligence inputs. Acting swiftly on specific information about his presence in Rawatsar, the team conducted a covert operation and successfully apprehended him.
SP Meena confirmed that the accused also has a previous case of kidnapping registered against him.
The operation was carried out under the leadership of Station House Officer (SHO) Chelsingh, with key contributions from Head Constable Premaram, Constables Nakhatsingh and Neembsingh, and the DST and Gadra Road Police teams.
