Udaipurs New Corridor to Alleviate Traffic Congestion

Udaipur, June 4: Residents of Udaipur can soon expect relief from the daily traffic jams that plague the Pratap Nagar to Debari route. A ₹233 crore elevated road, along with underpasses and road strengthening projects, has been finalized to enhance one of the city’s busiest traffic corridors. This project, expected to be completed in 36 months, aims to transform the city’s traffic management and improve connectivity to the airport, industrial areas, and national highways.
1.9 km Elevated Road and Two Underpasses
The project includes a 1900-meter-long elevated road, with 640 meters of underpass beneath the Pratap Nagar flyover and an additional 720 meters in the Transport Nagar area. Furthermore, 3.40 kilometers of road widening and strengthening will also take place.
Direct Benefits for Airport and Industries
The Pratap Nagar-Debari route serves as a major entry point to the city, linking Udaipur to Ahmedabad, Pindwara, Chittorgarh, and the national highway network. This route is also the primary access to Maharana Pratap Airport. Currently, traffic jams cause significant inconvenience for travelers and those in the industrial sector.
Saving Time, Fuel, and Boosting Economy
According to UIT Secretary Hemendra Nagar, the completion of this project will enable better management of heavy and local traffic, leading to reduced congestion, shorter travel times, fuel savings, and a boost to economic activities in the Pratap Nagar-Madri industrial area.
