Lucknow, May 13: The postmortem report of Pratik Yadav, the son of Samajwadi Party founder Mulayam Singh Yadav and stepbrother of Akhilesh Yadav, has confirmed that he died due to cardiac arrest. The 38-year-old was found dead under suspicious circumstances on Wednesday morning, prompting a medical team to conduct the autopsy.
According to the report, Pratik Yadav’s condition deteriorated after a blood clot formed in his body. The clot moved from the lower part of his body to the upper part, leading to an infection in the arteries and lungs, ultimately resulting in cardiac arrest.
The autopsy revealed six marks of injury on Pratik Yadav’s body. Significant contusions and signs of internal bleeding were found on his right chest, right arm, right forearm, right elbow, and left wrist. The first injury was measured at 14×7 centimeters below the right nipple, with a color gradient from red-brown in the center to green-yellow at the edges. Other injuries were also documented on various parts of his body.
The report identified the cause of death as ‘massive pulmonary thromboembolism’ leading to ‘cardiorespiratory collapse.’ It noted that samples of cardiac and pulmonary thromboembolic material were preserved for histopathological examination, while visceral organs were secured for chemical analysis and handed over to the relevant police authorities.
Doctors clarified that all injuries found on the body were ante-mortem, with the first three injuries being approximately 5 to 7 days old, while the last three were about one day old. The time between death and the postmortem was reported to be around half a day.
Pratik Yadav was taken to the civil hospital in Lucknow for treatment by his family, where he was pronounced dead. He was the son of Mulayam Singh Yadav and his second wife, Sadhana Gupta, and was generally distanced from active politics, having never contested an election or held a significant position in the Samajwadi Party.
His wife, Aparna Yadav, is a BJP leader and currently serves as the vice-chairperson of the Uttar Pradesh Women’s Commission. They were married in 2011, although recent reports suggested some strain in their relationship.
