Calcium-Rich Sesame Seeds Boost Bone Health

New Delhi, 2 January. Irregular eating habits and a disturbed daily routine gradually weaken the body. This often leads to weak bones and loose muscles. Joint pain, back pain, and fatigue become common problems. However, nature offers a simple solution—sesame seeds.

These tiny seeds are packed with essential minerals like calcium, magnesium, and phosphorus. These elements strengthen bones and protect against weakness. Consuming a small amount of sesame seeds daily is a boon for the health of bones and joints.

The Indian Government’s AYUSH Ministry highlights the health benefits of sesame seeds. It describes sesame as a reliable companion for bone health due to its rich calcium content. During winters, eating sesame not only keeps the body warm but also plays a significant role in strengthening bones.

Sesame seeds contain important minerals such as calcium, magnesium, and phosphorus that are crucial for bone strength. Calcium strengthens bones, while magnesium and phosphorus improve their structure. Osteoporosis, a condition of bone weakness, is common with age, especially among women. Regular consumption of sesame seeds reduces this risk.

Additionally, sesame seeds help in reducing joint pain. Their anti-inflammatory properties control swelling and pain. Sesame proves beneficial for people suffering from arthritis or joint stiffness.

According to the AYUSH Ministry, eating 1-2 teaspoons of sesame seeds every day keeps bones healthy and strong. Including sesame in the diet is easy—it can be roasted and eaten, added to salads, or consumed as sesame ladoos. Sesame-jaggery ladoos are traditionally popular in winters.

Both black and white sesame seeds are beneficial; however, excessive consumption should be avoided as sesame is also high in calories. Experts advise that a balanced diet, exercise, and nutrients like sesame seeds together can keep bones strong for life.
