Follow This Ayurvedic Routine for a Disease-Free Life


New Delhi, 2 January. The human body works like a machine that requires the right quality of fuel to function smoothly and stay healthy.

The body follows a rhythm, and when this rhythm is proper, it becomes very difficult for any disease to enter the body, and ageing slows down. In scientific terms, this is called the ‘circadian rhythm,’ but in Ayurveda, it is known as the Ayurvedic routine, which helps strengthen the body and keep it disease-free. Here is a guide to following this Ayurvedic routine.

Start by waking up early during Brahma Muhurat and drink water stored in a copper vessel after the body has expelled toxins. For glowing hair and skin, put a few drops of oil in the navel and apply kajal on the eyes. Begin your day with light exercise or a walk, followed by Abhyanga (oil massage). Abhyanga is essential as it improves blood circulation and reduces muscle fatigue.

Next comes diet, which holds great importance in Ayurveda. Food not only fills the stomach but also provides energy to the body. Have your lunch between 12 noon and 1 pm when the digestive fire (Jatharagni) is strongest, making digestion easier. Keep dinner light and avoid eating after sunset. After eating, do not lie down immediately; instead, take a short walk or, if not possible, sit in Vajrasana for some time. This posture helps in digestion.

Another important aspect is sleep. Proper sleep is necessary for the body’s repair and recovery. To improve deep sleep at night, you can take Triphala or turmeric with milk. These help induce sleep and reduce stress. Try to sleep on your left side, as it promotes better blood circulation and improves sleep quality.
