New Delhi, December 5 – Many people suffer from kidney cysts, which are small sacs filled with water. In most cases, these are harmless, but problems begin when the cyst size starts increasing, causing abdominal or back pain, burning sensation during urination, frequent infections, or rising blood pressure.
According to Ayurveda, kidney cyst formation is attributed to blockages in the body, accumulation of kapha, and disrupted daily routines. In many cases, relief can be found in the early stages through lifestyle changes and some traditional herbs, though it is essential to consult a doctor before adopting any remedy.
The reasons behind kidney cyst formation often lie hidden in our daily habits, such as drinking less water, staying awake late at night, consuming too much salt or spicy food, addiction to sweet substances, increased inflammation in the body, constipation, or slow digestion. The impact of these small mistakes gradually affects the kidneys.
Ayurveda mentions some traditional remedies including combination of gokshura and aloe vera juice, varun churna, giloy satva, water made from cucumber-mint-coriander, decoction with punarnava and ashmabhed, raisins soaked overnight, light bottle gourd water, and triphala taken at night. Many people use these remedies to reduce inflammation, make the body feel lighter, and maintain digestive balance.
Similarly, light yoga asanas like matsyasana, bhujangasana, and makarasana can help improve blood circulation in the kidney area. Some people also drink water from copper vessels in the morning, which is traditionally considered helpful for digestion and cleansing.
People with kidney cysts should reduce heavy, excessively salty, or processed foods. From an Ayurvedic perspective, light and water-rich foods like bottle gourd, cucumber, coconut water, carrots, and light pulses are considered better. Additionally, drinking 7-8 glasses of water, sleeping on time, limiting salt intake, walking for 30 minutes daily, and consuming protein according to one’s capacity proves beneficial.
