New Delhi, 21 November (Udaipur Kiran). Winter brings cool weather, but it also increases dryness, pollution exposure and lack of sunlight — all of which may lead to irritation, dryness and weak eyesight. Ayurveda suggests adopting simple food habits during the season to keep eyes healthy and strong.
According to the Ministry of AYUSH, foods rich in Vitamin A, C, E and Omega-3 fatty acids help protect vision and maintain eye health during winter. Including the right nutrition in daily meals can support better immunity and reduce common eye problems.
Carrot and beetroot are on top of the recommended list. The beta-carotene in carrots helps improve eyesight and prevents night blindness. Beetroot and leafy vegetables such as spinach, methi, bathua and mustard greens are also highly beneficial for better vision.
Amla is considered a superfood. Consuming one fresh amla or a glass of amla juice daily can improve eye brightness and boost immunity. Experts also recommend having one spoon of Triphala powder with lukewarm water before bedtime as it helps with internal cleansing and supports overall eye function.
Dry fruits and seeds like almonds, walnuts and black sesame contain Omega-3 fatty acids that strengthen eye nerves and help prevent dry eye syndrome.
With these simple dietary changes in winter, not only does eyesight remain healthy, but the risk of several eye-related issues also reduces significantly.
