Dungarpur, October 8 (Udaipur Kiran): A major controversy erupted after Banswara-Dungarpur MP Rajkumar Roat from the Bharat Adivasi Party (BAP) received a death threat on social media. The threat was made publicly during a Facebook Live session, where an individual named Chandravir Singh allegedly announced a ₹1 crore reward for anyone who would shoot the MP.
The shocking comment appeared live during a press conference in Udaipur, where MP Roat was addressing alleged negligence and bias by the Nai Police Station in cases related to land grabbing of tribal lands. The threat, made in the form of a live comment, left attendees stunned.
Following the incident, widespread outrage spread among MP’s supporters and Adivasi organizations. MP Roat announced that he will lodge a formal complaint with the Director General of Police (DGP) and the Inspector General (IG) of Udaipur Range.
Calling the threat an attack on democracy, Roat said,
“Such intimidation is not just against an elected representative but also a direct assault on freedom of expression and law and order. I will continue to raise the voice of Adivasis and will not be silenced by such threats.”
He demanded a thorough investigation and strict action against the person responsible.
The incident has triggered anger among tribal communities and local leaders, who warned of protests if swift action is not taken. Meanwhile, police and cyber teams have begun an investigation to trace the origin of the threat and verify the account involved.
