State-Level Science Seminar on ‘The Dawn of Quantum Era’ Organized at Pacific University | Udaipur Kiran


Udaipur, October 4 (Udaipur Kiran News): A state-level science seminar on the theme “The Dawn of the Quantum Era: Opportunities and Challenges” was organized at Pacific University, Udaipur, under the joint aegis of Pacific University and the Department of Science and Technology (DST), Udaipur. The event aimed to explore the latest advancements, potential applications, and emerging challenges in the field of quantum technology.

Inaugural Session and Key Insights

Presiding over the seminar, Professor Hemant Kothari, President of Pacific University, said that humanity stands on the threshold of a quantum revolution poised to transform multiple domains — from medicine to cybersecurity. He emphasized that quantum technology will be a driving force of the next industrial revolution and encouraged students to build their careers in this rapidly evolving field.

Chief Guest Prof. Dilendra Hiran, Faculty Chairman, Pacific University, highlighted that quantum mechanics is no longer confined to theoretical physics; it has evolved into a practical science powering technological innovation. He urged academia to adapt curricula in line with quantum advancements to prepare students for future challenges, noting that the seminar’s objective was to foster awareness and inspire scientific curiosity.

Expert Sessions and Discussions

Mr. Kailash Mishra, Deputy Director, Regional Science Centre, DST Jaipur, delivered the keynote address, elaborating on quantum computing, quantum cryptography, and their contributions to national development.
Mr. Manish Jain, Project Officer, DST Udaipur, also shared his insights on the importance of fostering research and innovation in this domain.

Participation and Evaluation

The seminar saw active participation from students who presented their views within six minutes, using a maximum of five slides or charts. The presentations were followed by a question-answer session, enabling evaluators to assess participants’ understanding of the topic.

Path to National Level

Selected students from this state-level competition will represent Rajasthan at the National Science Seminar, scheduled on October 30, 2025, at the Visvesvaraya Industrial and Technological Museum, Bengaluru.

The event was successfully conducted under the guidance of Prof. Seema Kothari, Dean, Faculty of Science, and Dr. Shikha Verma, who coordinated the program and emphasized the academic and research dimensions of quantum mechanics.
