Successful Kidney Stone Surgery Performed on Girl at PIMS Hospital, Udaipur | Udaipur Kiran

Udaipur: Doctors at Pacific Institute of Medical Sciences (PIMS) Hospital, Umarda, have successfully performed a complex kidney stone surgery on a young girl.

Pediatric surgeon Dr. Atul Mishra shared that a 12-year-old girl from Udaipur had been suffering from abdominal pain for several months. Despite receiving treatment at various places, her condition did not improve. Recently, her family brought her to PIMS Hospital, where tests revealed multiple large stones in her right kidney, with one particularly large stone completely blocking the urinary tract. This had caused significant damage to her kidney.

Dr. Mishra explained that during a three-hour operation, both pyelolithotomy and nephrolithotomy procedures were carried out to remove all the stones and save the kidney. Usually, such operations are performed using minimally invasive (laparoscopic) techniques. However, due to the patient’s young age, the poor condition of the kidney, and the presence of multiple large stones in different locations, open surgery was performed in this case. Special care was taken to minimize external scarring. The girl is now fully healthy.

The anesthesia team, including Dr. Kamlesh Rathore, Dr. Ganesh, Dr. Pinu, and Dr. Tyagi, as well as pediatricians Dr. Vivek Parashar, Dr. Rahul Khatri, Dr. Shalu, and staff members Arun and Ashok, played important roles in the successful surgery.

PIMS Hospital Chairman Ashish Agarwal informed that the entire treatment was done free of cost under the Bhamashah, Ayushman, and Maa Yojana schemes. He also mentioned that PIMS Hospital, Umarda, is fully equipped with modern facilities for all major and complex surgeries.
