20th Century Studios has released the first trailer for Springsteen: Deliver Me From Nowhere, the upcoming biopic that stars Jeremy Allen White as Bruce Springsteen. The film explores the creation of Springsteen’s 1982 album Nebraska, a deeply personal work that marked a turning point in the artist’s career.

The trailer gives us a first glimpse of White’s portrayal of Springsteen, singing tracks from the period following the commercial and critical success of Born to Run. It also recreates the process of recording Nebraska on a 4-track recorder in Springsteen’s New Jersey home.

Directed by Scott Cooper, the film is based on Warren Zanes’ book Deliver Me from Nowhere. Cooper, who also wrote the screenplay, described the project as “deeply moving” and said it gave him a rare view into the “vulnerability and strength behind [Springsteen’s] music.”

Joining White in the cast are Jeremy Strong as Jon Landau, Springsteen’s longtime manager and collaborator; Paul Walter Hauser as guitar tech Mike Batlan; Stephen Graham as Springsteen’s father, Doug; Odessa Young as Faye, a romantic interest; Gaby Hoffmann as Springsteen’s mother, Adele; Marc Maron as producer Chuck Plotkin; and David Krumholtz as Columbia Records executive Al Teller.

Springsteen: Deliver Me From Nowhere is set to release in theaters on October 24.
