The United States announced new visa restrictions on foreign government officials and others who facilitate illegal and mass immigration to the United States. In a statement, the US Embassy India said, “We will not tolerate those who facilitate illegal and mass immigration to the United States.““The United States has established new visa restrictions targeting foreign government officials and other who do so, and the Trump Administration has designated as Foreign Terrorist Organizations several criminal cartels that facilitate illegal immigration and alien smuggling”. “Also governments that do not facilitate the repatriation of their nationals from the United States face serious consequences, including broad restrictions on entry to the United States for their nationals,” it said. The statement came as the embassy recently issued a slew of announcements on visa issues, as the Donald Trump administration’s crackdown on illegal immigrants continues. The US Embassy on June 10 had also issued a statement, saying, the United States continues to welcome legitimate travellers to the country, but it “cannot and will not tolerate” illegal entry and abuse of visas or violation of US law.On May 27, the US Embassy in India issued a stern warning that if students skip classes or leave the programs without informing the school, they stand at the risk of losing their visas. “If you drop out skip classes, or leave your program of study without informing your school, your student visa may be revoked, and you may lose eligibility for future US visas. Always adhere to the terms of your visa and maintain your student status to avoid any issues,” it said. The US earlier announced that travel agents who knowingly facilitate illegal immigration to the US will face visa restrictions. Owners, executives and senior officials of those agencies will not be allowed to enter the US.
