As the urban rom-com De De Pyaar De completes six years, excitement is brewing over its much-awaited sequel. The original film, which released in 2019, became a fan favourite for its unique take on modern relationships, intergenerational romance, and its witty yet emotional storytelling. Now, with De De Pyaar De 2 in the pipeline, all eyes are on Rakul Preet Singh, who returns as Ayesha — the vibrant, spirited woman at the heart of the love triangle in the first film.

Rakul, who won over audiences with her portrayal in the original, recently opened up about reprising the role that marked a turning point in her Bollywood journey. Speaking about the sequel, she shared her enthusiasm, “It’s double dose of masala and double dose of dhamaka. I am excited to be Ayesha (her character) again. It’s great to be working with one of my most favourite teams which include people like Ajay Devgn Sir (her co-star), Luv Ranjan Sir (producer) and the director Anshul Sharma. It is like home coming for me. Because when I did De De Pyaar De it kick started my journey in Hindi movies. After working in Telugu films this Hindi film gave me that love and so the Part 2 has got me very excited.”
The sequel, produced by Luv Ranjan and directed by Anshul Sharma, is expected to explore a fresh chapter in Ayesha’s life. While Tabu and Jimmy Sheirgill’s characters wrapped up their arcs in the original, De De Pyaar De 2 introduces new characters, including R Madhavan, who is reportedly playing Ayesha’s stylish and sharp-witted father. His character is set to shake things up, especially for Ajay Devgn’s character, who continues to navigate the challenges of dating a much younger woman.
With Rakul calling it a “homecoming” and hinting at an even more entertaining ride, the buzz around De De Pyaar De 2 is only getting stronger. Fans can expect more laughs, more complications, and a brand-new chapter in this urban love story.
