Marflix Pictures’ Siddharth Anand and Mamta Anand, along with Netflix, are leaving no stone unturned to ensure their upcoming release Jewel Thief – The Heist Begins is a success. After dropping a teaser in February, the makers released songs like ‘Jaadu’, the film’s title track ‘Jewel Thief’, and the much-awaited trailer, which further raised expectations. Set to premiere on April 25, Jewel Thief features a stellar cast including Saif Ali Khan, Jaideep Ahlawat, Nikita Dutta, and Kunal K Kapoor. In a bid to pull all stops, the OTT platform resorted to guerilla marketing and deployed a massive mobile advertisement featuring the red sun diamond, the central object of desire in the heist film, in Mumbai’s bustling suburbs. This eye-catching vehicle captured attention on social media and in person, with people documenting it.

Beyond this mobile spectacle, Netflix and the makers also emphasized their commitment to delivering a ‘theatrical experience on OTT’ by staging a video with a noted influencer, creating the illusion of live actor performances.
In the video, influencer and comedian Bhuvan Bam is seen switching on Netflix on his home theatre. As soon as he starts the film, actor Saif Ali Khan, who plays Raja Chauhan in the film, jumps in through the window and asks, “What’s up?” He’s soon followed by actor Jaideep Ahlawat, who crashes into the room on a bike and greets him. Moments later, actor Kunal Kapoor, playing a relentless cop, breaks down the door and asks, “I wasn’t late, right?” A fight breaks out between the three, creating an intense atmosphere. Nikita Dutta then enters, hands Bhuvan some popcorn, and signals the others to continue. The video ends with all of them enjoying popcorn together, highlighting the theatre-like experience on OTT.
