After seeing an opening of Rs. 9.62 crores on Thursday, Jaat saw an expected drop on Friday as Rs. 7 crores came in. As it is, Thursday was a partial holiday and then Friday was a working day, so the collections were bound to drop. Of course, there is a weekend advantage that does set in from night show onwards but then Jaat is an out and out masala film and it’s not the kind that draws huge family crowds in the late evening and night shows, something that happens with core multiplex films.
The film has now collected Rs. 16.62 crores and all eyes are now on the jump over the weekend which could help it go past the Rs. 35 crores mark. For that, there needs to be at least 50% jump when compared to yesterday and then Sunday would need to have a double digit score. As a matter of fact, had Thursday opened in a comfortable double digit score then there was a very good chance of more than Rs. 10 crores coming in on Saturday as well. However, for now it’s going to be wait and watch.
Jaat is a film that has been mounted on a good scale and the cost shows on screen, which means there is good expectation from theatrical revenues as well to help it sail past the safety mark. This means that apart from good growth over the weekend, it also needs to have Monday collections close to that of Friday in order to have a reasonably good first week haul.
