Singer Jasleen Royal, who served as the opening act for Coldplay’s concert in January 2024 at the D.Y. Patil Stadium in Navi Mumbai, has finally broken her silence on the online criticism she received for her performance. In a heartfelt video titled “Dare To Dream” released on her official YouTube channel on April 6, Jasleen addressed the hate, opened up about technical issues she faced, and shared the emotional toll the experience took on her.

“Yaar, Kal Nahi Hua Tha”: Jasleen Speaks About Day 1 Struggles

In the video, Jasleen can be seen preparing backstage before her Day 2 performance, visibly shaken and emotional. She is heard asking a team member: “Yaar, kal nahi hua tha. Kal problem kya hua tha? In-ears phat kyu rahe the mere?” The exchange hinted at major technical difficulties that marred her Day 1 performance. Another team member is seen acknowledging the issue, saying: “That creative part I will leave to you. Technical part, we are sorry.”

As emotions ran high, Jasleen confessed the immense pressure she felt leading up to the concert: “After a certain point, I can feel it like it’s time to go home. There’s a lot of pressure. I’ll die. I swear I’ll die. I am still processing. It was a lot to process.” The singer also addressed the trolling she faced online, where many social media users had called her performance “bad” and “out-of-tune.” The video featured some of these negative comments, offering a raw and vulnerable glimpse into how artists are affected by online criticism.

Later in the video, Jasleen addressed the audience and said: “I have been nervous, it has been overwhelming. But thank you for keeping your faith in me. It means a lot.” She also revealed her internal struggle with imposter syndrome, saying: “I didn’t want people to think I didn’t deserve to be there… or question why I was performing at the Coldplay concert.”

Jasleen went on to explain that being a self-taught musician, she’s constantly learning and evolving: “I know I’m not perfect. I keep learning every day… I just try to put up a great show so people feel it was a good opening act from India. That’s all the pressure I’m taking.”
