Nikhil Taneja and mom Sarita share heartfelt moments in Be A Parent, Yaar! episode
The episode begins with a playful segment, How Well Do You Know Each Other? Nikhil and his mom, Sarita, share fun insights—like the one habit of Nikhil’s that annoys his mom and the project she’s most proud of: ‘Be A Man, Yaar!’ A central theme and IP on Yuvaa led by Nikhil, the series opened her eyes to topics many men typically avoid, and she’s proud that he addressed them so openly. Nikhil, in turn, recalls his childhood fear of losing his parents and says, “I would come and put my finger under your nose to check if you’re breathing or not” He also praises her talent for writing heartfelt poetry for loved ones.
The next segment, ‘The Talk,’ unfolds as a heartfelt Q&A between Nikhil and his mother, Sarita. She reveals that neither of her children was easier to raise, as both were mischievous in their own ways. Nikhil recalls his favorite childhood memories with both parents, sharing a touching moment when he prayed for a younger brother to be safe. Sarita fondly adds that he was always a caring brother. They also reminisce about watching Tom & Jerry as a family, creating a warm, nostalgic atmosphere. He further shares his views, highlighting how masculinity also involves responsibility and emotional awareness. For him, it’s about creating space for connection and love. He reflects, “I wanted to make sure that I work hard but I also wanted to give time to the people I love. I want to make sure I don’t get angry with the people I love. I want to create a safe environment and spaces for the people I love. I want to have balance in my life. Mujhe kaam bhi karna hai, acha time bhi spend karna hai, doston ke sath bhi spend karna hai, family ke sath bhi spend karna hai. I want to be the best husband, best father, best brother, and best son that I could be.” As the conversation deepens, he speaks about the values he learned from both of his parents — honesty and hard work from his father, and unconditional love from his mother.
The discussion shifts to the sacrifices and strength of mothers, with Nikhil praising all mothers for their unwavering dedication. He gets emotional, recognizing how his mother juggles household responsibilities and never takes time for herself. “Anything I have become today is all because of you,” he says, urging her to take time for herself and enjoy being a queen. Sarita opens up about not knowing that Nikhil struggled with anxiety growing up, and they talk about mental health, the parent-child relationship, and the importance of support.
Over time, they’ve also become friends, and Nikhil acknowledges how his mother has become a better parent through her efforts. When asked how he can improve as a son, Sarita says, “Sometimes you should sit with me and we can discuss like we did in this session. Sometimes I want more time with you to share and learn from each other. It’s not you always learning from me; I can also learn from you.” She also encourages him to meditate to reduce stress and manage life’s challenges. Nikhil, in turn, requests his mother to visit India more often, so they can spend more quality time together.

And with that objective in mind, the ‘Be Someone’s We’ segment aims to shine a spotlight over those who have been there in times when they are needed the most. In effect, celebrating the people behind the real connections, aided by their network.
In the ‘Be Someone’s We’ segment, we see Nikhil and his mother, Sarita, joined by their “We person”—actor and close friend Nakuul Mehta. During the conversation, Nikhil calls his mother the true inspiration behind Yuvaa, saying, “I think you’re the actual Yuvaa. You have all the Yuvaa philosophies and values—it has all come from you.” Speaking about his deep bond with Nakuul, Nikhil opens up: “It’s been very hard for me to talk about my feelings with anyone because I’ve always internalized giving—I never really understood how to receive. But therapy has really helped me. Nakuul is one of the few people I can truly open up to. We always say we’ll talk for two hours or meet for a short while, but it always turns into six to eight hours. If we meet at 8 PM, we end up talking till 3 in the morning. He’s really a safe space for me. And I’ve noticed that, over time, he’s also become more expressive with me. I’m so proud to have friends like him in my life—people who are always there for me.”
