A.P. govt. issues show-cause notice over use of land sanctioned for Rama Naidu Studios in Vizag

The Andhra Pradesh government has issued a show-cause notice to M/s Suresh Production Private Limited for trying to obtain permission for a residential layout on 15.17 acres of the 34.44 acres of land allotted to it for the construction of Rama Naidu Studios in Visakhapatnam.

Visakhapatnam East MLA Velagapudi Ramakrishna Babu had filed a Special Leave Petition (SLP) in the Supreme Court, opposing the change of landuse for a part of the stretch given for the studio.

The apex court, in its interim orders issued on February 9, 2024, said that land should not be used for any other purpose other than for which it was given.

Special Chief Secretary (Revenue) R.P. Sisodia on April 3 issued the orders, directing the Visakhapatnam District Collector to issue a show-cause notice to the alienee for the 15.17 acres of land. The Collector was instructed to give a reasonable opportunity to the alienee to present his case.

Visakhapatnam Metropolitan Region Development Authority (VMRDA) Commissioner and the Commissioner of Greater Visakhapatnam Municipal Corporation (GVMC) have been instructed not to entertain any applications from M/s Suresh Production Pvt. Ltd., seeking changes in the landuse, as it is against the rules.
