A.R. Rahman returns to work after health scare, announces ‘The Wonderment Tour’

A.R. Rahman took to X (formerly Twitter) to announce dates for the North America leg of ‘The Wonderment Tour’. The Oscar-winning composer seems to have resumed his work following the health scare he faced that saw him getting admitted to a hospital.

On the work front, last month, Rahman performed alongside renowned pop star Ed Sheeran at the latter’s concert in Chennai. Several videos from the concert showed Rahman and Ed jamming to a remix of Shape of You and Urvashi Urvashi. He had also composed the music for Vicky Kaushal’s blockbuster historical film, Chhaava. He has Lahore 1947Thug Life, and Tere Ishq Mein among other films in the line-up.

The Wonderment Tour

The composer-singer wrote on the social networking platform, “I present to you the dates for The Wonderment Tour, coming to North America this summer. See you soon.”

‘The Wonderment Tour’ will see him perform in 16 areas all over North America this summer. The tour is set to kickstart on July 18 in Vancouver and conclude on August 18 in Boston. Here’s the complete list of the dates:

Previously, Rahman had performed in the U.S. in 2022 where he sang his classic hits like Jai Ho and O Saya.

Hospitalisation

Earlier this week, the 58-year-old was admitted to a private hospital in Chennai following chest pain caused by dehydration. He was discharged following a routine checkup, according to the hospital’s statement shared by his son A.R. Ameen on Instagram.

The news about Mr. Rahman’s hospitalisation comes just weeks after Saira Bhanu, now separated from Rahman, was hospitalised following a medical emergency and had to undergo surgery.

Post her recovery, Ms. Saira acknowledged the unwavering support of her close friends, including sound designer Resul Pookutty and his wife Shadia, as well as her ex-husband Mr. Rahman.
