Fresh off the heels of International Women’s Day, Bollywood heartthrob Sidharth Malhotra sat down with global sensation Lilly Singh for a heartfelt conversation about the women who have influenced his life. In the recently released interview, the Shershaah actor reflected on his upbringing in a Punjabi household in Delhi and credited his mother for being the cornerstone of his journey to becoming the man he is today.

Growing up far from the glitz and glamour of the entertainment industry, Sidharth’s childhood was rooted in family values and grounded by his mother’s unwavering presence. “It was me and my elder brother, and we’ve pretty much been constantly brought up by mom,” he shared during the chat. “Whether it was sports or studies, everything was because of her. And she was a rockstar, playing that role while even doing business on the side with her friends.”

Looking back, Sidharth admitted that her influence became even clearer with time. “You realise that all my influences and all the major moments of my childhood—she’s been there as a rock,” he said. “And yeah, I think she’s been a major, major influence in both my brother’s life and mine.”
The candid conversation, which appears to have taken place before Sidharth and his wife, actress Kiara Advani, announced their first pregnancy.
Speaking of the professional front, Sid is currently busy shooting his upcoming rom-com, Param Sundari. The film, produced by Maddock Films, will also star Janhvi Kapoor in the lead, marking her first big-screen collaboration with Sid.
