Young Cricketer Vaibhav SuryaVanshi Selected for Indian Team


Samastipur, June 6: Fifteen-year-old batsman Vaibhav SuryaVanshi has been selected for the senior Indian cricket team for the first time. He will be part of the squad for the upcoming tours to Ireland and England, as well as the Asian Games 2026. Celebrations erupted in his hometown of Tajpur, located in Bihar’s Samastipur district, where firecrackers were burst and sweets were distributed in honor of his selection.

Vaibhav’s father, Sanjeev SuryaVanshi, expressed his joy to reporters, stating, “Vaibhav is reaping the rewards of his hard work. We hope he scores many runs for the country. Since his selection, we have been receiving congratulations from all around. Vaibhav has worked hard since childhood, and we want to thank the selectors for placing their trust in him.”

Rajeev SuryaVanshi, Vaibhav’s uncle, noted, “This is also a record as Vaibhav has been selected for the Indian T20 team at the youngest age. I would like to thank the BCCI for this opportunity. We realized after his impressive performance in the IPL that he would soon get a chance in the Indian team. I am grateful to the BCCI.”

Neighbor Rajesh Kumar remarked, “We always had hope and were waiting for this day. Vaibhav has set a record at the youngest age, and we knew he would play for Team India one day.”

Another local resident added, “Vaibhav has earned his place in the Indian team through his talent. I was confident that he would be selected. The entire Tajpur community is proud of this son of ours.”

Vaibhav SuryaVanshi, who scored 175 runs in the final against England in the Under-19 World Cup 2026, was the highest run-scorer in IPL 2026 with 776 runs. He has also excelled in youth test cricket, and now there are high hopes for his performance in the senior Indian cricket team.
