IPL 2026: Yashasvi Jaiswal must leave RR to break out of Vaibhav Sooryavanshi’s shadow, says Ambati Rayudu

Ambati Rayudu has advised Yashasvi Jaiswal to leave Rajasthan Royals to get out of the shadow of Vaibhav Sooryavanshi. Jaiswal has been with RR since 2020 and has gone on to play 82 matches and has scored 2592 runs.

However, this season has seen Jaiswal play second fiddle to the dashing Sooryavanshi, who has scored 680 runs and is the orange cap holder at the moment. Jaiswal has scored 426 runs from 15 matches and captained the Royals on two occasions. But his season has been marred by inconsistency at the top.

Even during the Eliminator win against SRH, Jaiswal scored 29 off 29 balls. Sooryavanshi, on the other hand, got 97 from the same number of deliveries.

Rayudu said that Jaiswal cannot afford to be overshadowed by Sooryvanshi all the time and he can be a match-winner in any other team.

Rayudu said that Sooryavanshi will continue to overshadow other players, and he will need a senior partner who won’t be competing with him.

“He needs to change his team. Because he cannot just bat with the guy and be overshadowed every single time. He’s a star in his own right. If he goes to another team, he will win matches on his own. He needs that space and that platform. Because this guy will keep overshadowing people, it has to be a senior partner alongside him who can deal with it and be happy for him. Be happy for what is happening and not compete with the non-striker,” he said on ESPNCricinfo.

WHICH TEAM CAN JAISWAL GO TO?

If Jaiswal does go into the auction pool, he will have many suitors lining up for him. However, Rayudu feels that Mumbai Indians will be a good fit for the Indian opener.

“Mumbai Indians is a good team for Jaiswal,” said Rayudu.

MI will be a good fit for Jaiswal as Rohit Sharma is approaching the final leg of his career.
