CEOs Praise PM Modi at Norway Business Summit for Easing Business in India


Oslo, May 19: Prime Minister Narendra Modi attended the India-Norway Business and Research Summit in Oslo on Monday, where over 50 CEOs and more than 250 participants from the business and research communities of Norway and India gathered. Following the summit, several CEOs expressed their appreciation for PM Modi’s efforts to simplify doing business in India during conversations with news agencies.

Christian Sorensen, CEO of BW LPG, stated, “Our company has been investing in India for the past seven to eight years, and we can see how the Prime Minister’s dedication and commitment to making business easier has significantly contributed to the overall business environment. This has been a crucial part of our success story in India.”

Ramesh Mutha, Chairman and Managing Director of Mohan Mutha Exports Private Limited, remarked, “The business meeting was excellent. Norway has been a long-standing partner of India, and this globalization and the Prime Minister’s visit to Norway have opened doors to strengthen our collaboration, especially in the energy sector, shipping, and fuel. The country is beautiful, and the people are very humble. We are also exploring joint ventures in Norway.”

Morten Fon, CEO of Jotun, noted, “Since we have been there (in India), there have been many changes over the years. One example is how trade between states in India has been made easier. The Prime Minister spoke about shipbuilding in India today, which is very close to my heart.”

Alf-Christian Dybdahl, CEO of Laird Medical, commented, “The summit was very good. It was interesting to hear different speakers and various perspectives. India is a very exciting market for all of us, and I believe there is still a lot of potential. Today, we got a glimpse of some of those areas. It is truly fascinating.”

Rajat Mehta, Chairman of Wealth Mehta Equities Private Limited, added, “I think it is fantastic that wherever PM Narendra Modi goes, there is a different atmosphere, collaboration, partnership, and relationship. His energy and ability to bring people from all countries together are evident. I believe he and his team’s efforts over the past six days have been remarkable.”

Anders Opedal, CEO of Equinor, stated, “Energy security is at the top of our agenda. We are also supporting India with LPG for crude oil and cooking gas, and now we have a long-term contract for LNG imports in India.”

Anders Anger, CEO of HIAAS HODWTO, said, “India and Norway are very different countries, but they share some similar values regarding how international business should be conducted. Shipbuilding presents a significant opportunity for India. We have also heard discussions about energy, IT, and other sectors.”

Sandeep Singh Chadha, VP of Growth and Strategy at SAEL, expressed, “It was great. Prime Minister Modi has come to Norway for the Indo-Nordic summit after 43 years. It is a joy that both Norwegian and Indian companies are working together.”

Morten Fon of Jotun concluded, “I think he spoke very well about the evolving India today. I have personally seen the development over the years. Business within India has become much easier, and many good things have happened. Today, he talked about shipbuilding in India, which is very close to my heart. Jotun Marine Coatings is a major supplier globally, holding 25% of the global market, and we have a significant share of the Indian market.”
