According to an official statement, the fourth edition of ‘Shakti Samvad’ will take place on May 16 and 17, bringing together state women’s commissions from across the country to deliberate on strengthening mechanisms for women’s rights, institutional coordination, and safety.
Minister Singh will address the inaugural session, while NCW Chairperson Vijaya Rahatkar will also speak, emphasizing the importance of accountable governance, robust institutional cooperation, and grassroots mechanisms for protecting women’s rights and dignity.
The consultation will cover various topics, including a review of state laws from the perspective of women’s rights, recent Supreme Court and High Court rulings related to women, handling stalking incidents, legal and institutional responses, and discussions on women’s rights under the new labor codes.
‘Shakti Samvad’ is a key consultative initiative of the NCW aimed at promoting close coordination and continuous engagement between the NCW and state women’s commissions. The first edition was held in Ayodhya, followed by events in Mumbai and New Delhi. The Srinagar edition further strengthens the NCW’s commitment to collaborative policy-making and institutional strengthening for women’s welfare across states.
This national-level consultation also reflects the increasing participation of institutions and stakeholders from Jammu and Kashmir, highlighting the importance of inclusive dialogue and coordinated governance in advancing women’s rights and ensuring their access to justice.
Senior government officials, legal experts, representatives from law enforcement agencies, policymakers, and members of state women’s commissions will participate in this event.
