Hyderabad, May 15: A fire broke out in an empty coach of the Hyderabad-Jaipur special train at Nampally railway station on Friday. Fortunately, there were no casualties reported.
The fire originated in an AC coach and quickly spread to a nearby coach. The incident occurred around 6:45 PM, just before the train’s scheduled departure at 7:50 PM. Railway staff noticed smoke emanating from the coach and promptly alerted the fire brigade.
Teams from the Hyderabad Disaster Response and Asset Protection Agency, along with the fire department, arrived at the scene and managed to control the blaze using three fire engines.
The incident caused panic among passengers at the station, but railway personnel ensured the safe evacuation of travelers from other coaches. A spokesperson for South Central Railway confirmed that the affected coach was empty and that no passengers were injured. The fire was brought under control swiftly.
The affected coaches B1 and B2 have been detached from the train, and the cause of the fire is currently under investigation. Railway officials are assessing the damage, and there have been no reports of significant disruption to train operations at the station.
In a related incident, a severe fire also broke out at a decorative goods warehouse near the Konga Kalan village in the Ranga Reddy district on the outskirts of Hyderabad. Fortunately, there were no casualties in this incident as well.
According to police, the fire occurred in a warehouse located behind the PSR Sloka Convention Hall, where decorative items were stored. The fire spread rapidly due to the presence of plastic and wooden materials, resulting in thick black smoke in the area. Fire department vehicles arrived promptly to extinguish the flames, and the cause of the fire is still under investigation. Police have registered a case and initiated an inquiry.
