Lucknow, May 11: Samajwadi Party (SP) chief Akhilesh Yadav has criticized Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s appeal to reduce the use of petrol, diesel, and gas, labeling the BJP government as the biggest ‘crisis’ for the nation.
Yadav remarked that the government suddenly remembers economic conditions and restrictions only after elections, while BJP leaders extensively utilized resources during the electoral campaign.
He targeted the central government over inflation, the falling rupee, unemployment, and foreign policy, stating that the BJP has failed on all fronts and the public is ready to respond.
In a post on the social media platform X, Yadav wrote, “As soon as the elections ended, the ‘crisis’ was remembered. In reality, there is only one ‘crisis’ for the country, and its name is: ‘BJP’. If so many restrictions were necessary, how will the ‘five trillion dollar economy’ be achieved? It seems the BJP government has completely lost control. The dollar is soaring, while the rupee is plummeting.”
He further stated, “The appeal to not buy gold should be directed at BJP members regarding their corrupt individuals, as the public is unable to purchase even 1.5 lakh tolas of gold. BJP members are busy laundering their black money.”
Yadav sarcastically questioned why all these restrictions were only remembered after the elections. He pointed out that BJP members took thousands of charter flights during the campaign; were they flying on water? Were they not staying in hotels or cooking with gas cylinders? Why didn’t they promote through video conferencing during the elections? Are all these restrictions only for the public? Such appeals could lead to fear and anxiety in business and trade due to the looming threat of recession and inflation. The government’s role is to utilize its vast resources to alleviate emergency situations, not to spread fear or panic.
He added that if the government is unable to govern, BJP members should acknowledge their failures and not ruin the country. The real reason for the current situation stems from the BJP’s departure from the traditional non-alignment policy in foreign affairs, driven by specific groups and pressures. The public is suffering from inflation, unemployment, and recession as a result.
According to Yadav, every section of society, from farmers and laborers to youth, homemakers, professionals, and businesspeople, is affected. The truth is that the BJP has failed in both foreign and domestic policies. This appeal is an acknowledgment of the BJP government’s own failures. In fact, the BJP’s flaws have become apparent once they received votes.
He criticized the BJP for corrupting politics with electoral fraud, spreading hatred, and destroying social harmony. Their actions have tainted culture and values, attacking saints and even religion, while now lamenting the economy. The BJP has wreaked havoc across cultural, religious, political, social, and economic spheres. Following this appeal, the sudden surge of anger among the public is something the BJP cannot manage like an electoral gimmick; they will be gone for good. The public declares today that they do not want the BJP.
