Turkey Criticizes Israels Colonization Efforts in Palestine

New Delhi, May 9: Turkey’s permanent representative to the United Nations, Ambassador Ahmet Yildiz, has condemned Israel’s colonization methods in Palestinian territories, including the West Bank, stating that its illegal actions must be halted.

Yildiz made this statement on behalf of the Organization of Islamic Cooperation (OIC) group during an Aria-Formula meeting at the UN Security Council, addressing the ongoing issues in the West Bank and East Jerusalem.

The meeting was convened at the proposal of the permanent missions of Denmark, France, Greece, Latvia, and the United Kingdom. Yildiz highlighted the illegal actions of Israel in Palestinian areas, emphasizing the urgent need to address the root causes of the issue due to Israel’s continuous attacks on the rights, land, security, and dignity of the Palestinian people.

He recalled UN Security Council resolutions 2803 and 2334, along with several other important UN resolutions, which address the fundamental issues that he described as long-standing injustices.

“We condemn all forms of colonization, including the seizure and demolition of Palestinian homes and the eviction of Palestinian families. Such illegal actions must be stopped,” Yildiz stated.

Speaking on behalf of the OIC, Yildiz called for adherence to the Gaza ceasefire, noting that Israel violates it daily. He also urged for a comprehensive plan to end the Gaza conflict to be implemented carefully.

Yildiz stressed that the Palestinian issue is unique and cannot be divided. He strongly condemned Israel’s illegal actions in the West Bank, including settlement expansion, occupation plans, settler terrorism, and violations against the sacred sites of Islam and Christianity, particularly the Al-Aqsa Mosque.

He reiterated, “We strongly condemn Israel’s illegal actions in the West Bank, including settlement expansion, occupation plans, settler terrorism, and violations against the sacred sites of Islam and Christianity, especially the Al-Aqsa Mosque.”

It is important to note that settler terrorism refers to the violence perpetrated by Israeli residents (settlers) against Palestinian citizens, their properties, and crops in the West Bank.
