Mumbai, May 7: A grand event focused on environmental conservation took place in Jaipur on Wednesday, marking the 31st annual celebration of the Shri Kalpataru organization. The event featured the ‘Vriksh Mitra Samman 2026’, which honored dedicated activists working towards saving nature. Actress Raveena Tandon and former Maharashtra minister Sudhir Mungantiwar were present at the ceremony.
Raveena attended the event in traditional attire, where she not only motivated the winners but also expressed her commitment to environmental conservation.
In a special interview with a news agency after the event, she stated, “I feel happy to participate in such ceremonies, as they inspire all of us to do something good. It is essential to convey through media and the general public how vital trees and nature are for our lives.”
She emphasized that in the race for development, we should not neglect the environment. “It is our moral duty to hand over a healthy and safe planet to future generations. The progress of life and environmental protection should go hand in hand,” she added.
The event primarily honored individuals engaged in grassroots efforts to plant and protect trees.
Raveena Tandon is one of the popular actresses from the 90s, known for hits like ‘Tip Tip Barsa Pani’ and ‘Mast Mast’. She made her digital debut with the web series ‘Aranyak’ (2021) and gained attention for her role as Ramika Sen in ‘KGF: Chapter 2’ (2022). In 2023, she was awarded the Padma Shri, India’s fourth highest civilian honor. She is also set to appear in the Tamil film ‘Surya 46’, directed by Venky Atluri, alongside actor Surya, with the film expected to release later this year.
