Kolkata, May 7: A shocking incident has emerged from the Madhyagram area of North 24 Parganas district in West Bengal, where Chandranath Rath, the personal assistant of BJP leader and Leader of Opposition in the West Bengal Assembly, Suvendu Adhikari, was shot dead. The incident has sent shockwaves through the locality.
According to reports, Chandranath was shot in the Madhyagram area and sustained serious injuries. Local residents rushed him to a nearby Diversity Nursing Home, but he succumbed to his injuries on the way. The Trinamool Congress (TMC) workers have been accused of the murder.
Upon receiving information about the incident, the police arrived at the scene and have initiated an investigation. They are currently reviewing CCTV footage from the area and are in search of the assailants.
It is noteworthy that since the announcement of the Bengal election results on May 4, there have been several incidents of violence in the state, with many individuals suffering life-threatening attacks. Amidst these violent occurrences, Suvendu Adhikari appealed to the public to maintain peace and stated that legal action would be taken against those involved in the violence.
He mentioned that some anti-social elements are still active, and once the BJP forms the government, action will be taken against all, regardless of their affiliations. He also warned that if any BJP leader or worker is found inciting violence, they too would face consequences.
