Udaipur, April 9, 2026 (Udaipur Kiran): A major theft was reported in the Ghantaghar police station area of Udaipur, where unidentified burglars targeted a locked house and fled with gold and cash worth lakhs.

The incident took place on Wednesday night around 8 pm in Silawat Wadi, opposite Beech Ki Masjid. Despite normal activity in the locality, the accused broke the main gate lock, entered the house, and carried out a detailed search of the premises.

According to the victim, Irshad Khan, son of Shaheed Khan, the burglars stole around 35 tola of gold and approximately Rs 20 lakh in cash from an almirah kept on the third floor. At the time of the incident, the entire family had gone out to attend a social function.

When the family returned late at night, they found the main gate lock broken. Inside the house, belongings were scattered and almirahs were left open, indicating a thorough search by the thieves.

On receiving information, Ghantaghar police reached the spot and inspected the scene. The victim stated that the stolen gold belonged to four brothers, while the cash was their hard-earned savings.

Police have registered a case and started scanning CCTV footage from nearby areas to identify the accused. The rising number of theft incidents in the locality has created a sense of fear among residents.
