Mumbai, April 4: Iran has escalated its military actions, shooting down another American fighter jet, an A-10 Thunderbolt, near the Strait of Hormuz. This incident marks the second time in a week that Iran has targeted advanced US aircraft, following the downing of an F-15 fighter jet. President Donald Trump has declared the situation as a state of war, asserting that the US is engaged in conflict with Iran.
The Iranian military confirmed the attack through Al Jazeera, which occurred while the US was conducting a search and rescue operation for its missing crew members. US officials have acknowledged that the Iranian forces took responsibility for the attack. Reports indicate that the pilot of the downed A-10 managed to safely eject and land in Kuwaiti airspace, where he was reported to be unharmed.
In addition to targeting fighter jets, Iran’s aggression extended to two UH-60 Blackhawk helicopters involved in the rescue operation. While some crew members sustained minor injuries, all were officially reported safe. So far, only one of the two crew members from the previously downed F-15 has been rescued.
In a recent interview with NBC News, President Trump responded to the downing of the aircraft, stating that it would not affect ongoing diplomatic negotiations with Iran. He firmly stated, “No, absolutely not. This is war. We are in a war.”
