Mumbai, April 4: The dominance of the SUV segment in India is rapidly increasing, with numerous models flooding the market. In recent months, Tata Motors has regained its stronghold in this segment, particularly after the implementation of GST 2.0, which has significantly boosted the sales of models like Nexon and Punch.

In March 2026, Tata Punch emerged as the top-selling SUV, with 20,977 units sold. Following closely was Tata Nexon, which recorded sales of 19,810 units. The top ten models for March 2026 are as follows:

The Tata Punch, priced starting at ₹5.59 lakh, has sold over 700,000 units in just four years, marking a significant achievement for the model.

The 2026 Tata Punch maintains its boxy, compact design but has been updated with sharper features, including slim LED DRLs, a blacked-out grille, and redesigned bumpers. The model is available in six variants and offers a choice of six colors.

Notably, the new Tata Punch comes equipped with several advanced features, such as a 360-degree camera, blind view monitor, auto-dimming IRVM, a large 10.24-inch HD touchscreen infotainment system, and wireless phone charging. It also boasts the largest boot space in its segment, with a capacity of 366 liters for the petrol variant.

Safety is a priority for the Punch facelift, which includes six airbags, ESC, ABS, TPMS, and a 360-degree camera as standard. Tata Motors has conducted crash tests to ensure the vehicle’s safety, achieving a 5-star safety rating.

This impressive performance positions Tata Punch as a leading contender in the SUV market for 2024, marking the first time in over four decades that a non-Maruti Suzuki model has claimed the top spot.
