Guwahati, March 31: In a thrilling start to IPL 2026, Rajasthan Royals (RR) secured a convincing victory against Chennai Super Kings (CSK) by 8 wickets at the Barsapara Cricket Stadium on Monday. With this win, RR has now tied with Punjab Kings for the second-most victories against CSK in IPL history.
Mumbai Indians (MI) holds the record for the most wins against CSK, having defeated them 21 times in 41 matches. Both MI and CSK are the most successful teams in IPL history, each having won the title five times.
Currently, RR and Punjab Kings are tied for second place with 16 wins each against CSK. Royal Challengers Bangalore (RCB) follows with 13 victories, while Delhi Capitals and Kolkata Knight Riders have 12 and 11 wins, respectively.
In the match, CSK opted to bat first after losing the toss and managed to score only 127 runs in 19.4 overs, with Jamie Overton being the top scorer at 43 runs.
For RR, Jofra Archer was instrumental with the ball, taking 2 wickets for just 19 runs in 4 overs. Nandre Burger also claimed 2 wickets, conceding 26 runs, while Ravindra Jadeja took 2 wickets for 18 runs.
RR chased down the target in 12.1 overs, scoring 128 runs for the loss of 2 wickets. Vaibhav Suryavanshi was the star of the chase, scoring 52 runs off just 17 balls, while Yashasvi Jaiswal remained unbeaten at 38 runs off 36 balls.
