PIMS Hosts CME on Radiofrequency Ablation, City Pain Society Chapter Launched | Udaipur Kiran

Udaipur, March 30 (Udaipur Kiran): In a significant step in the field of pain management and spine intervention, a CME and workshop on Minimal Invasive Pain and Spine Intervention (MISS) was organised at Pacific Institute of Medical Sciences (PIMS) Hospital, Umarda. The event also marked the first-time focus on Radiofrequency Ablation techniques in Udaipur.

The programme was led by Organising Chairperson Dr Kamlesh Shekhawat and Organising Secretary Dr Anil Bhiwal. It was inaugurated with a lamp-lighting ceremony by PIMS Hospital Principal Dr Suresh Chandra Goyal and Dr Sunanda Gupta, in the presence of over 100 senior doctors and medical professionals.

Key speakers included Dr Pankaj Surange, Registrar of the Indian Academy of Pain Medicine, and Dr Gaurav Sharma, Editor-in-Chief of the Indian Journal of Pain, who provided training on MISS techniques. Other senior doctors also delivered lectures on interventional methods.

On the occasion, PIMS Chairperson Ashish Agrawal said that promoting advanced and minimally invasive techniques remains a priority for the hospital. He noted that procedures like Radiofrequency Ablation can provide relief to patients suffering from chronic pain and will strengthen pain management services in the region. He added that such academic and training programmes will continue in the future to connect doctors with the latest medical advancements.

The workshop covered principles of Radiofrequency Ablation, fluoroscopic spine anatomy, facet joints, and genicular nerve RFA, along with case discussions and live demonstrations for detailed training.

During the event, the city branch of the Indian Society for Study of Pain (ISSP) was also inaugurated by Dr Pankaj Surange and Dr Gaurav Sharma, marking an important development for the city’s medical community.

The programme was organised by the Department of Anaesthesia, PIMS Hospital.
