Udaipur, March 29 (Udaipur Kiran): Police have filed a chargesheet in the high-profile ‘Udaipur Files’ blackmailing case involving a BJP leader within just 43 days of the complaint. The accused, lawyer Vishal Gurjar, has been charge-sheeted after the investigation was completed swiftly with the collection of evidence.
The investigation was conducted by Deputy Girwa Gopal Chandel, who submitted the chargesheet under provisions of the BNS and IT Act before Presiding Officer Manish Joshi in Court Number 4.
According to police, the victim had lodged a complaint at Bhupalpura police station on February 11 this year. She alleged that the accused had called her to his office, served her a cold drink laced with an intoxicating substance, and filmed an objectionable video while she was unconscious. The accused later allegedly blackmailed her by threatening to make the video viral.
During the investigation, police recovered a digital clock fitted with a hidden camera from the accused’s residence. It was found that the camera was connected to the accused’s mobile phone. Police also seized a Samsung mobile phone and a memory card, which reportedly contained multiple objectionable photos and videos of the victim.
Importantly, the chargesheet does not mention any AI-generated videos. While there were initial claims suggesting the use of AI technology, the investigation did not find any evidence supporting this.
The accused is currently in jail. Meanwhile, his mother has filed a petition in the Rajasthan High Court, raising questions over the police action and the evidence collected during the arrest. The next hearing in the matter is scheduled for April 1.
