Chinnaswamy Cricket Stadium on Saturday, Royal Challengers Bengaluru (RCB) showcased an impressive performance, defeating Sunrisers Hyderabad (SRH) by six wickets. Virat Kohli played a pivotal role in RCB’s victory, scoring an unbeaten 69 runs and achieving another significant milestone in IPL history.
Kohli became the first batsman to score 4,000 runs while chasing in the IPL. RCB faced a challenging target of 202 runs set by SRH but had a rocky start as Kohli’s opening partner, Phil Salt, was dismissed for just 8 runs. However, Kohli steadied the innings alongside Devdutt Padikkal, forming a crucial partnership for the second wicket. The previous record was held by Rajasthan Royals, who achieved a target of 210 runs against Gujarat Titans in 15.5 overs during IPL 2025.
In bowling, Jacob Duffy made a remarkable debut for RCB, taking 3 wickets for just 22 runs. Sunrisers Hyderabad, batting first, managed to score 201 runs for the loss of 9 wickets in their 20 overs, with captain Ishan Kishan leading the charge with a powerful 80 runs off 38 balls, while Aniket Verma added 43 runs off 18 balls.
