Udaipur, March 27 (Udaipur Kiran): Udaipur Municipal Corporation carried out a major action on Thursday over pending Urban Development (UD) tax, sealing the registrar offices of BN University and RMV College.

Municipal Commissioner Abhishek Khanna said the action was taken due to outstanding UD tax of over ₹30 lakh. The first कार्रवाई was conducted at BN University, followed by RMV Women’s College.

Considering ongoing examinations, the निगम team avoided action at the main gates and instead sealed the registrar offices. Notices regarding pending UD tax were also pasted at both locations. The action did not affect academic activities or examinations in the institutions.

The commissioner stated that out of the total dues, around ₹25 lakh is pending against BN College and about ₹5 lakh against RMV College for a long period. Despite multiple notices, the institutions failed to respond.

He added that revenue teams reached the locations early in the morning at around 6 AM and completed the कार्रवाई swiftly. The operation was carried out by teams led by Revenue Officer Mohit Agnihotri, Vijay Jain and Rahul Meena.

The commissioner further informed that the निगम has set a target of ₹20 crore for UD tax collection this financial year, out of which ₹17.60 crore has already been collected till March 26.

He warned that property owners who continue to ignore notices for UD tax payment may also face similar sealing action if dues are not cleared on time.
