New Delhi, March 12: Ahead of the IPL 2026 season, Rishabh Pant is intensively working on his batting skills. The wicketkeeper-batsman was spotted training under the guidance of former Indian cricketer Yuvraj Singh at a small camp in Mumbai, a video of which he shared on his social media account, Instagram. Pant is set to play for the Lucknow Super Giants in the 19th season of the Indian Premier League.

In January, Pant suffered a muscle strain during the ODI and T20 series against New Zealand. He has faced numerous injuries over the past year, leading to his inconsistent presence in the Indian team. Pant last played an ODI for India on August 7, 2024, and his most recent T20 match was on July 28, 2024, against Sri Lanka.

The video shows Pant practicing batting under Yuvraj Singh’s supervision, where he appears to be in good form, hitting powerful shots. Yuvraj is seen observing Pant’s batting from the umpire’s position and providing him with advice. Reports indicate that the training sessions focused on both skills and temperament necessary for success in modern white-ball cricket.

A source connected to Pant’s training stated, “Rishabh is practicing hard to improve his game and fitness. If you watch the video, you’ll notice he has slimmed down. He was eager to work more on his white-ball game, which is why he reached out to Yuvraj and expressed his desire to train under him for three to four days.”

Pant, who was part of the team that won the T20 World Cup 2024 and the ICC Champions Trophy, struggled for runs in IPL 2025, managing only 269 runs at a modest strike rate of 133 across 14 matches. Under his captaincy, the Lucknow Super Giants had a disappointing performance, winning only 6 out of 14 matches. Notably, Lucknow acquired Pant for ₹27 crores in the IPL 2025 auction.
