New Delhi: The Dwarka police in the national capital identified 361 foreign nationals living illegally in INDIA during a special operation conducted in 2025. All identified individuals were sent to detention centres.

The operation targeted foreigners residing in India without valid visas for extended periods and using the country’s resources unlawfully. Various police stations in Dwarka and special teams played a key role in this action.

Most detainees were apprehended by the Anti-Narcotics Cell (109), Dabri police station (76), and Special Staff (54). Other teams involved included Uttam Nagar police station (48), Bindapur police station (40), and Mohan Garden police station (19). Together, these teams arrested and sent the illegal foreign nationals to detention centres.

The largest groups of detainees were from Nigeria (187), Bangladesh (82), and Ivory Coast (26), along with individuals from Myanmar, Ghana, Senegal, Liberia, and other countries. Notably, several women and children were among those detained.

In December 2025, police deported two Nigerian nationals. All detainees were presented before the Foreigners Regional Registration Office (FRRO), which issued deportation orders. Following this, they were moved to detention centres and will be repatriated to their respective countries.

Police officials stated that the Dwarka district police will continue strict action against illegal immigrants. Teams will keep gathering intelligence and expedite deportation processes for foreigners residing unlawfully in the area.

Earlier, on the eve of the New Year, two Nigerians were arrested for overstaying their travel and business visas. Amit Goyal, Deputy Commissioner of Police, South West District, said Miracel Onyeka and Moses Chinoso were caught on December 31 while heading to a New Year party in Hauz Khas village.

To address the issue of foreigners overstaying their permitted duration, special teams in the South West district’s operation cell have been directed to collect intelligence and take stringent actions against such individuals.
