Virat Kohli smashes Vijay Hazare Trophy hundred after 15 years; closes in on Sachin Tendulkar with 58th List A century

Virat Kohli took just 83 balls to register his first hundred in the Vijay Hazare Trophy, thus putting Delhi in driver’s seat against Andhra Pradesh on Wednesday at the BCCI’s Centre of Excellence ground in Bengaluru. Chasing 299 runs for victory, Kohli and Priyansh Arya laid the platform after an early dismissal of Arpit Rana for a duck.

The Kohli-Arya duo forged a 113-run stand for the second wicket, thus leaving the opposition with no answers as Kohli played his shots all round the ground to bring up his 58th List A hundred. This was his fifth hundred for Delhi, while the rest have come in international cricket.

With this hundred, Kohli also shortened the gap with legendary Sachin Tendulkar for most List A hundreds in a career. Tendulkar finished at 60. In the process, Kohli also completed 1000 runs for Delhi in one-day cricket.
